Hopedale Wellness Center Hosts 4th Annual Health & Wellness Fair – Helping Families Help Themselves Hopedale, IL — (April 2, 2008) Hopedale Wellness Center is sponsoring its 4th Annual Health & Wellness Fair. Helping Families Help Themselves is a FREE event with over 40 businesses and community services and is scheduled for Saturday, May 3 from 11:30am – 3:30pm. This year’s Fair has something for everyone - from the young to the mature. Health screenings, drawings, giveaways and fun activities for children, including a children’s Usborne Book sale, will be offered along with medical helicopter displays and the announcement of the Athlete of the Year and the Hopedale Medical Complex Scholarship winners. Pork chop sandwiches, chips and drinks will be available for purchase from 11:30am – 2:30pm. The Fair is scheduled in May of every year in support of National Hospital Week, which is celebrated to let people know that America’s hospitals are positive, vital places that promote health and wellness, which is Hopedale Medical Complex’s mission, and to share information regarding the latest techniques and procedures that are being performed at Hopedale. Keeping healthcare in a positive light is part of the tradition of National Hospital Week, a celebration of care that dates back to 1921. That year, a magazine editor in Chicago suggested an annual “open house” for healthcare where a skeptical public could see first hand the important work performed inside hospitals. The idea spread across the country and helped change the perception about hospitals from places of illness to places of healing. Today, National Hospital Week is the nation’s largest healthcare celebration. Activities for this year’s Health & Wellness Fair will help people of all ages be proactive in taking the necessary steps to improve their health. “The key is prevention”, states Melodie Mendenhall, Director of Marketing, “and the earlier that begins, the better the outcome.” The Hopedale Wellness Center is located at 222 NW Grove Street in Hopedale.
