Hopedale Medical Complex's Wellness Center offers many program opportunities for your family. Our programs fit the needs of a variety of age groups.

YOUTH FITNESS PROGRAMS
Tumbling Ran by Young Champions of Illinois, the tumbling program begins with the basics, focusing on proper technique and safety. Students will learn to build strength and flexibility while conquering fears of tumbling. Bridges (forward and backward), dive rolls, tri-pods, hand stands, back bends, back and front limbers, cartwheels, round offs, and hand springs will be taught. Course runs for 16 weeks. Fees are $12 registration fee and $8 for each week attended. Registration will take place the first day of class. For questions, please contact Tammy at Young Champions at 309-634-0160.
Youth Basketball Register your child now for this year's Youth Basketball Program, sponsored by Hopedale Wellness Center and the Hopedale Lions Club Recreation League. Programs are available for children in Kindergarten through 6th grades. All levels games will be involved in all levels, with grades 1 -6 playing teams from other towns. Lil Dribblers Hey Parents! Here is a great opportunity for you to work one on one with your child and spend quality time together! This program teaches 3-5 year old children sports motor skills that build confidence, while children have FUN at the same time! The program focuses on teaching children and their parents skills in dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and running/agility without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Held every Monday for 6 weeks, and each week the exercises become increasingly more difficult as the class progresses and the children show improvement. Program begins on Monday October 11 at 5:30 pm. Registration deadline is October 6. Minimum of 5 children to hold program, maximum of 20. Kidz Fit Look good, feel good, be good! This program is for children ages 8 to 13 years old and members of HWC. Participants will learn how to use special child size equipment, the importance of exercise and healthy exercise habits, the names of major muscles being used in each exercise, and the importance of warm-up, stretching, cool down and cardiovascular exercises. Once children have completed this program, they may use the fitness floor equipment and the youth-size equipment. Parents must attend the first 30 minutes of the class. To register your child for this FREE program, please contact the Wellness Center front desk at 449-4500. The must be a minimum of 3 children for the program to run. Next Program date is October 16 at 8:30 am.
Holiday Fun for Kids Kids will have an opportunity to celebrate upcoming holidays. Special crafts and snacks will be available at the Wellness Center on Wednesday, October 27 and Tuesday, November 23 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Fall Spooktacular Mark your calendars NOW for FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29th for the 3rd annual Fall Spooktacular at Hopedale Wellness Center, brought to you by Hopedale Wellness Center and Miss Mona's Child Care. More information coming soon.
SWIM LESSONS Swim Lessons, both private and public, are offered at various times throughout the year. Please contact the Wellness Center Front Desk for upcoming sessions. The next session of public swimming lessons will be on Tuesday and Thursday nights, beginning on September 21. Level 1 will be held at 6 pm, Level 2 will be held at 6:35 pm and Level 3 will be held at 7:10 pm. Each of these levels are 30 min. Fees for these lessons are $32 for Wellness Center Members and $42 for Non-Members for the first child in the family. Additional children receive $5 discount.
Stroke Clinic Lessons will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning on October 12 at 4:45 pm and will run for 8 weeks. To participate in these 1 hour long sessions, children must be able to swim freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly with appropriate breathing patterns. Fees for these lessons are $64 for Wellness Center Members and $84 for Non-Members for the first child in the family. Additional children receive $10 discount.

ADULT PROGRAMS
Ballroom Dance Join Hopedae Wellness Center for an evening of music and fun. Ballroom Dance takes place the 3rd Saturday of the month from March - November in the gymnasium from 6 to 9pm. Cost is $5 for members and $6 non-members. Sweat for a Cause! Help us raise money during Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October. Join us for some great classes and SWEAT FOR A CAUSE! Workout for St. Jude Join us in helping St. Jude Children's Research Hospital fight pediatric cancer and other catastrophic diseases by participating in Workout for St. Jude. All you need to do is EXERSICE and log your minutes in the St. Jude log from November 1-21! Fee/Donation to St. Jude for HWC members and non-members is a minimum of $35. This donation will give non-members access to the Wellness Center for the 3 weeks. All participants will receive prizes based upon donated amount. It is acceptable to get donations from others to pay for your entry fee, as long as they understand all money is going to St.Jude You can also take pledges if you would rather do pledges instead of a flat fee. 12 days of Fitness Between parties, family meals, and all the cookies it is hard to keep weight off around the holidays.But, if you try our fun 12 days of fitness you'll be sure to stay on track. The 12 Days of Fitness is a challenge to come in and complete 12 different exercise routines between November 29 & December 23. Register at the Wellness Center Front desk. Open Volleyball Open Volleyball begins Wednesday, November 3 and continues through the winter months. Games are played from 7 pm to 9 pm. Teams are formed from those present each evening. Open Volleyball is free for Wellness Center Members and $3 for Non-members.

American Red Cross Community CPR Class This class will teach participants to recognize and care for cardiac and breathing emergencies for victims of all ages. Techniques on saving a victim from choking, how to prevent injuries, and use of EMS System are shown. This is a great class for individuals looking to babysit or work with children Register by September 22 at the Wellness Center front desk. SCREENINGS / DRIVES
Cholesterol Screenings Cholesterol Screenings done at Hopedale Wellness Center take place the 3rd Wednesday of most months. The screening is a complete lipid profile (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides) and glucose. This is done using a finger-stick test with immediate results. Fasting prior to screening will provide the best results. Screenings for the rest of 2010 will be September 15, October 20 & November 17. There will be no screening in December. Blood Drive October 7 in the Hopedale Wellness Center Gymnasium from noon - 5pm. In cooperation with the Central Illinois Community Blood Center.
