Most medical experts agree that successful treatment of breast cancer is linked to early diagnosis. Mammography is critical for the early detection of breast cancer. It can show changes in the breast for up to two years before a patient or physician can feel them.
Current guidelines recommend mammography every year for women, beginning at age 40. Generally, the procedure is brief and discomfort is minimal.
